1974 Ford Escort Mk1 1300e – Richard Weaver
)
This Mk1 Escort 1300e had been stored since circa 1991 by a friend for his friend. When the time came for it to be brought out of storage and moved to a new owner, I purchased this a year or so ago with my friend and it finally saw daylight in May 2024 where it was moved to its current storage.
it was a daily driver prior to 1991 and had some modifications made to it at the time including change from the square headlights to round variants and addition of the quarter bumpers.
It is in need of a full restoration, and this will hopefully commence after Richard’s current restoration projects of a 1971 MGB Costello V8 and a 1969 TVR Vixen.
Being the two-door model, it is favoured by enthusiasts and the colour of purple velvet is amongst the most popular. Richards has started to gather spares to aid in the restoration, including new old stock Mexico front wing and new passenger door. The owner is also in search of a good driver’s side door.
Since purchasing the car, Richard has made contact with a former owner who is amazed the car survives and has shared a photo of it in its prime.
Although its rough around the edges, the Escort has not been messed with too much and has a lot of untouched areas.
