1989 Volvo 345DL - UK Barn Finds
A long-lost Volvo with a taste for the spotlight.

This 1980 Volvo 345DL, powered by a 1,397cc engine, is a true survivor with an intriguing history. Originally discovered in a barn in 2016, it was purchased by a film production company and went on to appear in several TV series, including Landscapers (starring Olivia Colman and David Thewlis) and Flesh & Blood.

Despite its time in the spotlight, the car remained off the road for at least 32 years, with its last recorded road tax expiring in 1993. After its film career, it went back into storage in 2021, seemingly forgotten once again.

Eventually, Claire and Elton of UK Barn Finds acquired the car, and against the odds, it was brought back to life. Incredibly, with nothing more than a fresh battery and some fuel, the old Volvo fired up and drove—a true testament to Volvo’s legendary durability.

Once a common sight on European roads, the 345 is now an increasingly rare model. The Volvo 340 series was highly popular in several European countries, but to broaden its appeal, Volvo introduced the five-door 345 variant in autumn 1979 for the 1980 model year.

This particular example was registered in February 1980 and has had only four registered keepers since new. The odometer shows incredibly low mileage for a car of its age, making it an exciting piece of automotive history—not just for Volvo enthusiasts, but for classic car lovers everywhere.
