Ray Newell - Morris Minor Owners Club

Ray became Secretary of the MMOC in 1978 and remained in post until the end of 2023, just over 40 years of dedicated service.  He was instrumental in seeing the Club through some turbulent growing pains and the creation of a limited company, of which he has remained an active Director.  He oversaw the acquisition of the first club premises and a later expansion and move to larger premises.  He promotes the marque through his many authoritative books produced through painstaking research.  Ray has worked tirelessly on behalf of the Club and the Morris Minor, often spending the equivalent of a full working week in the Club’s office where he has been responsible for the paid staff and liaising with the accountants and auditors.  Internationally, he has fostered and promoted relations with other interested clubs worldwide in countries such as America, Australia, Holland and Ireland to name just four from many.  He was instrumental in the formation of the Morris Vehicles Association to promote common interests and find solutions to shared problems.  As he retires, it would be a fitting reward for Ray to be presented with the Club Hero Award.
