Jamie Garrett - 1960 Morris Mini - *Third place*
)
This 1960 Mini has a story like no other. Spanning four generations, it has taught two people to drive, travelled across France and Italy, and was even given away for 20 years before a secret restoration brought it back home.
It was purchased by Jamie’s grandfather in 1965. His grandmother, father, and aunts all learned to drive in it. Jamie’s dad later used it for work before rust took its toll in 1977, leaving it off the road for decades.
In 1996, an attempted restoration stalled, and the Mini was given away to someone who never repaired it. In 2019, Jamie tracked it down and bought it back nearly 20 years later. With no experience, he took on the challenge—sorting parts and working with specialists. The first restoration attempt failed, but a skilled panel man finally brought the shell back to life.
Jamie kept the entire project a secret from his father, unveiling the restored Mini in 2023. Together, they rebuilt it before taking its first drive to see Jamie’s grandfather, who remarked, “It was never this good.”
Since then, it has won multiple awards and is still driven regularly.
“As a family we are immensely proud of the car and the story that goes with it makes it even more special and brings joy to everyone that meets her. She will live on as a lasting memory of my grandparents who are now no longer with us.”
