Peter Everington - 2001 MG MGF Trophy 160

Peter Everington - 2001 MG MGF Trophy 160

Purchased from South Wales in the early part of 2024. The MGF Trophy had been off the road since 2019.

It had extensive problems with the paint work, wheels and engine. The biggest problem of all being the sills and part of the rear bumper mounts had rusted to the point the previous owner had decided to put it up for sale as he felt the work was beyond his capability to do with his resources.

Peter purchased the car and brought it up to Norwich. The car had all the sills relapsed, new steel work around the boot and other parts relapsed to bring up the body shell to pristine condition. The interior was refurbished, and the driver’s seat leather was relapsed on the bolsters.

The genuine MGF Trophy wheels were striped and re-powder coated. Finally, the car was totally resprayed in Trophy Yellow, back to its original colour.

The car made its first appearance at the NEC Classic Motor Show in November 2024 on the Norwich Classic Vehicle Club stand, which Peter is a member of.

The MGF Trophy 160 was a limited edition and only 800 were manufactured for the British market. After a short run, the production stopped due to cost and ongoing problems in the company.

The Trophy 160 was the first 140 mph MGF incorporating the 160 VVC engine, producing 158 bhp. The suspension was lowered by 20mm and 305mm discs and 4 pot callipers fitted to help stopping.
