Wayne Kruger - 1988 Ford Escort XR3i Mk4

Presented in Rosso Red, the XR3i or ‘Rossie’ as it is nicknamed, was supplied new by Trimoco Motor Group Ltd Luton. First registered on 4th February 1988 to the first owner being a Luton resident.

With nine previous owners, the seventh owning the car for 22 years, Wayne is the tenth and was responsible for bringing the car back to England from its Scottish home when he purchased the car in April 2021.

Over the years Rossie has appeared in Ford Classic car magazine and The Classic Ford calendar and has won best in show for her year at Capenthorne Car Show. 

“She is our pride and joy, and we are very happy to be her custodians,” says Wayne. 

“Back in the 80’s, we would have loved to have owned a XR3i but couldn’t afford one. During Covid, I took voluntary redundancy and used the money to purchase her. She was not for sale, but a friend put a word out on the Ford social media sites and that was that - we were on our way to Scotland to collect her.”

Rossie has benefited from having a respray. One of the rear sills has had some repair work carried out at the same time as the respray was done.
